about

Kiko Navarro joins forces with musician Benji Habichuela and vocalist Nuria Millán for breathtaking flamenco/electronic fusion cut 'Nana Del Caballo Grande'.

Asked to create a new piece of music for a dance and acrobatics company at Mallorca's prestigious 'House of Son Amar' along the lines of his 2020 cut 'La Fatiga', a flamenco-inspired track which appeared on his 'Afroterraneo' album, Kiko fell upon the idea of covering 'Nana Del Caballo Grande', a classic written by flamenco legend Camaron De La Isla.

"Flamenco is a serious thing" says Kiko "and if you're going to touch it, you need to know what you're doing." So he called on his longtime collaborator and percussionist Benji Habichuela, who worked on 'La Fatiga' and also, as luck would have it, comes from a respected flamenco family in mainland Spain.

Benji suggested bringing in 'cantadora' Nuria Millán to provide a new energy for the song, alongside live percussion, guitars and cajon. Mixed with Kiko's trademark pristine Afro-Latin production sounds, this fresh take on 'Nana Del Caballo Grande' is truly a breath of fresh air. Three distinctive versions are included in the package, with the original and 'Exhibit' mixes opening in a tradition style before taking off into the deep house skies, while the weightier extended mix is designed to keep dancers on the floor in furious fashion.

The performers at 'House of Son Amar' were delighted with the piece, choreographing part of their show around the song, snippets of which can be seen in the promotional videos for the track.
